Villu Paatu Fellowship Meal - 4 Feb 2019

On 4 February 2019, the Tamil Service had a Villu Paatu Musical Story-Telling Fellowship Night in church in the form of a reunion amongst our fellow church members.

After meal and prayers, we had a performance by Bro. Adaikalam, singing and praising our Lord by way of country folk tune known as ‘’Villu Paatu’’. It’s like East meets West with typical instruments, tabla/bells/small drums and western keyboard, to give the Indian harmonium effect. Thanks to the ad hoc team put together to spice up the Villu Paatu*.

* Villu Paatu Musical Story-Telling Night (English: Bow Song, Tamil: வில்லுப்பாட்டு), also known as Villadichampaatu, is an ancient form of musical story-telling in India where narration is interspersed with music, an art of southern state of Kerala and Thovalai in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. Simple tunes and verses make the story to be followed easily. The villu(bow), the age-old weapon of warriors - paradoxically lends itself to be used as a primary musical instrument for the Villu Paatu artists. [extracted from Wikipedia]
