Harvest Festival Thanksgiving Evening - 27 Jan 2019

On 27 January 2019, the Tamil congregation decided to dedicate this special day to the Lord as it coincided with the Tamil Harvest Festival 'Pongal'.

All members were requested to dress in the traditional Indian clothing. The ladies took delight in wearing their gorgeous Chuditha/Salwar Kameez/Sarees. The men came in their Veshti (dhoti) and Jupa/kurta. To add spice to this special Thanksgiving service, we gave love offerings not only in cash but also in fruits, sugar cane, dates, etc as a symbol of gratitude that the good Lord had bestowed His abundant blessings on us in the year 2018. And of course, our Thanksgiving meal was served on banana leaves and sugar cane - all from our shared garden.

We want to thank God for His graciousness and allowing us to rejoice in His goodness as aptly described in Deuteronomy 8: 7-8 ''7 For the Lord your God is bringing you ...wheat and barley...vines and ...pomegranates...olive trees and honey," as we journey into the rest of 2019.
